Ceramic sculpture

 

Featured in the Salt Spring National Art Prize Finalist Exhibition. 

 

The Vessel series features ceramic uteruses, complete with internal clitoris. The work was created in response to alarming discussion and changes surrounding abortion rights both in Canada and the United States. It acts as a critique of the problematic nature of woman seen as vessel; life-giver yet object, reproductive rights controlled and sexuality suppressed.
